PMRF Senior Scholar Mr. Chandan Ghorui, Arjun V.S. Kidav and Prof. Anil Kumar Chaudhary from ACRHEM (DIA-CoE), School of Physics, University of Hyderabad (UoH), have investigated the THz based optoelectronic properties of the ZnS polymer QDs composites. The group has demonstrated some excellent optical constants such as refractive index along with moderate absorption coefficients between 0.1-2.0 THz range along with decay life time in nanoseconds and low scattering losses.

Prof. Anil Kumar Chaudhary

They observed properties enabled the ZnS QDs for developing a low-cost CMOS Camera for converting weak THz Signal into optical signal. They have covered optoelectronic characterisation of ZnS QDs between UV to THz range. These ZnS QD are synthesized by Dr. Partha Kumbhakar under the supervision of Prof. Pathik Kumbhakar and NIT Durgapur-713209, West Bengal.

Chandan Ghorui, Arjun V.S. Kidav

This is the first demonstration of ZnS QD for making low-cost THz detector.  The work is published in Peer Reviewed Journal Spectrochimica Acta A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 124697:1-20 (2024). (I. F~4.83)  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.saa.2024.124697.

Mr. Chandan Ghorui expresses his sincere thanks to the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) grant, Govt. of India for maintenance fellowship. The authors express their thanks to Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence Govt. of India for developing THz test facilities under grant No. DRDO/18/1801/2016/01038: ACRHEM- Phase-III.
