Mr. Pattepu Sailu, Ph.D Research Scholar in the Department of Theatre Arts, S N School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH), was selected for the prestigious International Federation for Theatre research (IFTR) international Conference being held at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil during July 10 – 14, 2017.
Mr. Sailu is under the guidance of Prof. B. Ananthhakrishnan faculty at the Theatre Arts. He attended the conference on “Unstable geographies and multiple theatricalities” and presented a paper on The Intercultural Legacy of Moharram (Peerla Panduga): A Ritual Performance of Telangana. His paper has been awarded the Prestigious IFTR bursaries 2017 which carries an amount of 1285 euros. He is one of those few who got this award from India. He was also awarded the IFTR bursaries in 2016.
The International Federation for Theatre research (IFTR) has been created for the Theatre research worldwide. It is the world’s leading theatre research organization. Every year world’s leading theatre experts, theatre researchers, scholars, professors participate, present their papers and share their ideas in this conference. It is an annual conference where 500 participants come from all over the globe. Last year Mr. Sailu attended the IFTR 2016 at Stockholm University, in Sweden.
Pattepu Sailu is a JRF scholar at Department of Theatre Arts, S. N. School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad and worked with distinguished theatre exponents like Prof. Neelu Kamaluddin, Abhilash Pillai, Duglus O’ Connel. He has participated in several national and international conferences and projects including IBSEN festival, UKIERI thematic partnership project on “Scenography in Digital Age” and IFTR 2015. He has presented a paper on Padyanatakam Identity of Telugu region from glorious days to decline in the IFTR 2015. He had participated in many workshops lead by eminent theatre personalities from India and abroad. He has conducted workshops in different areas of Hyderabad for the children and presently associated with CAMS Theatre Group, Hyderabad as a practitioner.
