Prof. Rajagopal Subramanyam and his Ph.D. students, Mohammad Yusuf Zamal, Pavithra Ramachandran, Jyoti Ranjan Rath and Jerome Xavier, Department of Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad attended the 11th International Conference on “Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability”-2023, July 3-9 2023, Bahcesehir University Future Campus, Istanbul, Turkey. From the same Department Prof. A.S. Raghavendra, IoE Chair Professor and his Ph.D students Shashibhushan Gahir and Pulimamidi Bharath also attended the conference.
International Photosynthesis Conference on Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability is organized once in two years. It is one of the international conferences where eminent scientists worldwide participate and present their research work.
Prof. Rajagopal and Prof. Raghavendra were invited speakers and Chairpersons to various sessions in this conference. As a young researcher Mr. Mohammad Yusuf Zamal was selected and invited for a talk entitled “Mitigation of effect of high light on the photosynthetic apparatus of Rhodobacter alkalitolerans when grown in an alkaline environment”. Another student, Pavithra Ramachandran presented a poster entitled “Photosynthetic efficiency and transcriptomic analysis of Duneliella salina under hypersaline: A retrograde signaling in chloroplast” and her poster was chosen for the “Young Researcher Award” along with a cash prize of 100 USD, one among the 6 selected participants from the poster presentation for various themes. All the other students presented their posters. It has been a wonderful opportunity and experience for the students to present their research work and interact with eminent scientists worldwide in photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy. We acknowledge the Institute of Eminence, University of Hyderabad for partial financial support to attend this conference.
