Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Senior faculty member at the Department of English, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) and presently the Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Orissa has been nominated as a member of the Governing Board of Auroville Foundation by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India for a period of 4 years from June 29, 2017 under the Auroville Foundation Act 1988.

Prof. Mohanty is one of the four members nominated by the Govt. of India to the Governing Board of the prestigious Auroville Foundation. He is an internationally acclaimed academic. He has to his credit 29 books in English and Odia and his works have been published among others, by the Oxford University Press, Sage Publication, Routledge, Orient Longman, Central Sahitya Academy and other notable publishing houses. He is also the recipient of various national and international awards such those from the British Council, the Katha, the Salzburg and the Fulbright fellowships. Earlier, he was nominated as a member of Education Commission for UNESCO and Inflibnet by the Government of India.

Auroville, the City of Dawn, is a universal township established on 28th February 1968 by the blessing of the Mother and approved by the UNESCO and backed by the Government of India. Based on the vision Sri Aurobindo, ‘it is located in south India, mostly in the State of Tamil Nadu (some parts are in the State of Puducherry), a few kilometres inland from the Coromandel Coast. Auroville is recognised as the first and only internationally endorsed ongoing experiment in human unity and transformation of consciousness, also concerned with – and practically researching into-sustainable living and the future cultural, environmental, social and spiritual needs of mankind’.
