Prof. Soma Venugopal Rao, faculty at the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials, University of Hyderabad has been recently invited as the Editorial Member for the prestigious journals that include Defence Science Journal, India; Opto-Electronics Advances and the Frontiers.

Prof. Venugopal is an invited Member of the Editorial Board, Defence Science Journal (DSJ), India. DSJ is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary research journal in the area of defence science and technology. Journal feature recent progresses made in the field of defence/military support system and new findings/breakthroughs, etc. Major subject fields covered include: aeronautics, armaments, combat vehicles and engineering, biomedical sciences, computer sciences, electronics, material sciences, missiles, naval systems, etc.

He is the Associate Editor for Opto-Electronics Advances Journal series which are published by Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOE, CAS), providing professional platforms to exchange ideas on optics, photonics, and optoelectronics through publishing, conferences, and other activities.

Prof. Venugopal is also the Associate Editor of Optics and Photonics Journal which is a section of Frontiers in Physics devoted to the science and application of photonics and optics, ranging from optical characterization of materials to innovative photonic device functionalities enabled by new physical concept and novel optical materials.

Prof. Venugopal Rao Soma joined as a Reader at the University of Hyderabad in 2007. He later became an Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2013. Prof. Venugopal guided 10 Ph.D. students and 6 more are working in his group.  He has published 1 book, 10 book chapters, and about 300 papers in refereed journals and international conference proceedings, presented more than 150 papers in various international/national conferences. Prof. Venugopal Rao selected as the Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, UK (2020) and Fellow of the Institute of Physics, London, UK (2019). He was selected as a Topical Editor of the prestigious journal Optics Letters of the Optical Society of America. He is also serving as an Associate Editor for the RSC Advances Journal from the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK since 2016.
