Rangannagari Vishwaja, an alumna of the Department of Sociology (M.A. 2019-21) at the University of Hyderabad, has been recognized with the prestigious Rising Stars Award at the Making India Employable Conference and Awards (MIECA) 2024. The award was presented by Ms. Roma Balwani, Independent Director of John Cockerill India, during a grand ceremony held at the Westin Garden City, Mumbai, on September 25, 2024.

The Rising Stars Award celebrates young achievers with exceptional talent and dedication in academics and professional spheres. This year, MIECA saw over 4 lakh applications from students across 600 universities in India. Organized in collaboration with TeamLease Edtech and Digivarsity, and presented by the India Employer Forum and India Education Forum, MIECA 2024 honoured excellence across a range of categories, including the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Bharat Nirman Award, Corporate Excellence Award, Excellence in Higher Education Award, and Change Maker Awards for both industry and academia.

Under the theme “The Power of the Ecosystem,” MIECA 2024 highlighted the critical partnerships between educators, institutions, corporates, CSR initiatives, governance, and learners in driving innovation, fostering growth, and empowering India’s workforce. The event featured prominent panel discussions with distinguished speakers such as Mr. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, a Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan awardee. Their insights reinforced the importance of a strong ecosystem for skill development and employability in shaping India’s future.

Currently, Vishwaja is pursuing her PhD in Sociology under the guidance of Prof. Saraswati Raju Iyer in the Department of Sociology & Social Work at Acharya Nagarjuna University. Her research focuses on “A Study on Women Entrepreneurship Development Through E-commerce Platforms in Andhra Pradesh.”

We wish Vishwaja all success in life.
