The NSS cell, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has organized a Reduce/Reuse/ Recycle activity on the campus on 26-09-2024. They visited the Dump Yard and Reduce/Reuse/Recycle unit on the campus and assisted the unit staff in recycling the collected plastic and other waste that they were collecting partially in their clean-up drives so far.
They had first-hand experience of the difficult activity of recycling of the waste to maintain hygiene on the campus. They observed that the water from dump yard is being mixed up with water in the nearby water bodies.
Mr. Vishnu, Department of Sanitation guided and explained to the NSS volunteers about functioning of the unit.
Dr. Bhim Singh, the NSS Programme Officer felt that despite taking much care, there is still a need to protect the water bodies on the campus from the polluted water flowing from dump yards/drainage directly streaming into nearby water bodies and polluting them.
He requested concerned university authorities to look into it and take necessary action to protect the water bodies from being polluted for the well-being of the university community.
