Sanjana Krishnan, former student of Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad has been awarded the German Chancellor Fellowship 2019-20 by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The annual fellowship allows researchers to work on their independent self-designed projects that would strengthen Indo-German bilateral relationship.
Sanjana’s project aims to understand ‘if and how’ Inclusive Waste Management can be an effective anti-poverty strategy for Indian cities. Social Inclusion is a key dimension of her work. The project focuses on potential reforms using case studies from Germany that highlight the fact that inclusive waste management capable of dealing with socio-environmental concerns for Indian cities is possible.
