The School of Economics, University of Hyderabad recently hosted an unforgettable Alumni Reunion, bringing together generations of alumni, faculty, and friends. The two-day event was a testament to the enduring bonds forged on campus.
The inaugural session on 21st February 2025 began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the National Anthem. Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. J. Rao, Prof. R. Vijay (Dean, School of Economics), Prof. Ghyanshyam Krishna (IoE Director), Prof. Debashish Acharya (University Alumni Coordinator), and Dr Krishna Reddy Chittedi (SPOC) welcomed alumni, highlighting the university’s Institute of Eminence status and the alumni’s role in mentoring students.
A panel discussion on Economics Education and Global Challenges featured distinguished alumni, including Ms. Priya Giri (MA, 1996) and Mr. Tejaswi Sai Turaga (IMA, 2011). Their insights on corporate dynamics, reskilling, and geopolitical shifts left a lasting impact.
The next session, a panel discussion on Economics and Sustainable Development, saw alumni experts Dr. Vijay Varadi (MA, MPhil, PhD, 2009), Dr. Pradeep K. Mavuluri (MA, PhD, 2006), and Dr. Venu Gopal Jarugumalli (MA, 2001) share their expertise on Green GDP, AI in sustainability, and circular economies.
As alumni reunited, nostalgia filled the air. The first batch of students, who graduated decades ago, reminisced about their formative years, sharing laughter and tears. A group photo captured the joy of reconnecting.
The Felicitation Ceremony honoured retired professors, while alumni shared memories and career experiences. A cultural program featuring music, dance, and a play on friendship left everyone enchanted.
As the event concluded, alumni departed with full hearts, already looking forward to the next reunion. The University of Hyderabad remains a beacon of excellence, fostering lifelong connections and memories.
