The School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) at the University of Hyderabad recently commemorated a significant milestone with the Silver Jubilee Reunion on August 10, 2024, bringing together alumni from the M.Tech. 1998-99 batch. This event was a nostalgic journey, rekindling memories and reigniting friendships forged 25 years ago. The reunion highlighted the remarkable achievements of the alumni, who have made substantial contributions across various industries. From pioneering entrepreneurs to leading researchers, the gathering celebrated the impact of SCIS on the professional world.
The event was graced by former professors Prof. Arun K Pujari, Prof. Hrushikesh Mohanty. Prof. Chakravarthy Bhagwati, Prof. K N Murthy, Prof. S K Udgata, and Prof. Salman, along with the Dean, Prof. Atul Negi also joined the event. The proceedings began with Suryanarayana Murthy, an alumnus, leading a prayer and sharing his professional journey. He spoke about his transformational experience at UoH, detailing how the foundation laid by the university helped him build a successful career across diverse domains such as financial services, manufacturing, supply chain, and banking. Surya is currently the Head of Data Science at Tide.
Several other alumni reminisced about their time at UoH, recalling courses, assignments, and cherished memories with their professors. Dilli Babu discussed how alumni can give back to the university by participating in industry talks, seminars, mentoring, supporting campus placements, and fund raising.
Prof. Debashis Acharya, Chairman of the Alumni Cell, and Mr. K Sai Jawahar, Convenor of the Alumni Cell, also attended the event. They welcomed the M.Tech. 1998-99 batch and admired their efforts in organizing this Silver Jubilee Reunion, coinciding with the university’s Golden Jubilee year. Dr. Anjajeya Swami Kare, SPOC of the Alumni Cell at SCIS, coordinated the program and a campus tour for the attendees.
The alumni took the opportunity to felicitate Prof. Pujari, Prof. Mohanty, Prof. Murthy, Prof. Chakravarthy, and Prof. Atul Negi, sharing fond memories and anecdotes from their time in class.
The event featured speeches by SCIS professors, discussions on networking opportunities, and provided a platform for alumni to share their experiences and insights. A memorable highlight was the heartfelt gratitude expressed by all the alumni for the education they received and how it shaped their careers and lives.
The Silver Jubilee Reunion was a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and the power of reconnecting with one’s alma mater.
