Mr. Shankar Gugoloth, an alumnus of the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been selected for Fulbright Nehru Doctoral Fellowship for the 2024-2025 cohort at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Mr. Shankar under the supervision of Prof. Ramdas Rupavath, focused on the development perspectives of the Lambada tribes of Telangana and this opportunity will allow me to further my research in this esteemed program.
Following his master’s degree from the University of Hyderabad, he commenced his PhD in the Department of Liberal Arts at IIT Hyderabad in 2021. His doctoral research centres on an ethnographic study of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) and its policymaking, with the aim of understanding youth aspirations in contemporary neoliberal times. He also presented his work at several national and international conferences, including the recent anthropology and education conference at the University of London.
His tenure at the University of Hyderabad has significantly contributed to his development as a responsible researcher and critical thinker. He says, he will remain committed to these values in my ongoing academic journey.
