The Empowered Committee for Differently Abled Persons (ECDAP), University of Hyderabad, and Help The Blind Foundation (HTBF) — a Chennai-based non-governmental organisation conducted an advocacy event in Hyderabad on 21 September 2024. Visually impaired students of University of Hyderabad took an active part as major stakeholders in this day-long event and interacted with more than 80 corporate leaders and HR professionals.

This event is a follow-up to the initiative of the ECDAP of UoH and the HTBF conducted a similar event on 24 February, 2024. The events are perhaps first of its kind in the city of Hyderabad, bringing together a group of Corporate Leaders, Human Resource (HR) Professionals, Non-Governmental Organisations working for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in education and employment.

The students and research scholars received high accolades for their enthusiastic participation and concrete suggestions. As a nodal unit looking after the affairs of persons with disabilities at UoH , the ECDAP facilitated the participation of students in the event. It is another milestone by the UoH in the direction of creating inclusive institutional mechanisms for equal opportunities in employment and empowering our differently abled students to take full advantage of these mechanisms.

Dr. Annavaram, Assistant Professor from the Department of Sociology, and Prof. Pammi Pavan Kumar, Chairperson, ECDAP have Coordinated the event from the University of Hyderabad.
