Cleanliness contributes to complete health hence it requires coordinated effort from every one’ said Prof. B. P. Sanjay, Pro. Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad in his valedictory address of the Swacchhta Pakhwada (cleanliness fortnight) programme at University of Hyderabad. He was the Chief Guest of the programme organized from 1-15 September, 2017. He requested GHMC authorities to make possible the cleanliness as a daily effort at UoH. He expressed concern for the ecological Balance and lauded the initiatives taken by University students in their representation to Telangana Government in this regard. He appreciated the efforts of the committee in organizing Swacchata Pakhwada for the whole fortnight successfully.

The zonal commissioner of GHMC Ms. Harichandana, IAS who was the guest of honour at the programme, assured the cooperation in maintaining the clean campus and in the clean-up of Peacock Lake. She invited the students to work with community in creating awareness about the cleanliness and hygiene. She emphasized on the need for a change in the attitude of community in not only learning ways of enhancing cleanliness but also maintaining the clean habits consistently. In the University campus, she suggested that campus community may start with small things like segregation of waste for disposal, and doing away with plastic bags. She welcomed participation of students and student clubs of University and offered help if they take up projects and internships related to clean lakes, clean surroundings etc. As an alumnus of the University she expressed her happiness at such programmes being taken up by University.
The cheifWarden of university of Hyderabad, Prof. Vasuki Belavadi congratulated everyone who participated in the cleanliness fortnight programmes and emphasized on the fact that clean mind can create clean surroundings.

Dean, Students’ Welfare Prof. Debashis Acharya in his residential remarks appreciated the efforts of GHMC Zonal commissioner Ms. Hari Chandana who is an alumni from University of Hyderabad and her cooperation with University.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of essay writing, Elocution and Cleanest hostel room contest which were organized as a part of the fifteen day Swachhta Pakhwada .

The valedictory programme started with display of film on Anti-Ragging. Dr. G. Padmaja Deputy DSW introduced about the programme to the audience, the report of the fortnight programmes was presented by Prof. Darla Venkateswara Rao, Chairman, Swachhta Pakhwada committee and Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare. The programme was presided by Prof. Debashis Acharya. This was followed by the insights shared by the chief guest, guest of honour, Chef Warden and presidential remarks. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. G. Padmaja. The dignitaries who participated in the programme included faculty from the University, Non-teaching staff and students.
