Dr. Mamta Sajwan Khatri, DST- Scientist (WOSA), Molecular Neuroendocrinology and Neurodegeneration, School of Life Sciences has been honoured as one of the Women Scientists selected by the Academy panel of India for the ‘SWATI’ “Science for Women: Technology and Innovation”.

Dr. Mamta Sajwan Khatri

Dr. Mamta has 10 years of research expertise in Molecular Neuroscience, Neuroendocrinology, Developmental Biology, and Neurotoxicology. She served as a DST-Scientist (WOSA) principal Investigator with the mentorship of Prof. B. Senthilkumaran, earning the award twice, and has held various positions in the Department of Animal Biology at the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. Additionally, she is a Scientific Coordinator of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) and a Guest Faculty in the Department of Pharmaco-informatics at NIPER Hyderabad.

Her current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms involving brain signaling molecules, neurotrophic factors via their receptors, and other essential transcription factors. The aim is to elucidate how these mechanisms establish gene expression patterns crucial for neuronal and gonadal development and functions. Her work also explores potential applications in targeting MPTP-induced neurodegenerative disorders and regenerative approaches to improve overall health outcomes

Dr. Mamta has a good record of research publications and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the DST Young Scientist awards in 2014 and 2018, the Prof. G.P. Talwar Young Scientist award in 2022, and the Dr. Mridula Kamboj Young Scientist award in 2020 from the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF). She has been selected twice by the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) for Neuroscience Translational Research. Dr. Mamta is an active member of several scientific societies, including ISSRF, ISCE (associate to AOSCE), and the International Neuroscience Federation (INF). She also serves as a reviewer for PLoS One, Gene, Gene Reports, and as a Review Editor for Frontiers in Endocrinology.

Congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Mamta
