Professor S. Irudaya Rajan from the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram delivered a lecture on “Tamil Nadu Migration Survey 2015” on 7th March 2017 at the University of Hyderabad.
Professor Rajan highlighted the problems of emigrant households, migrant remittances, and socio-economic issues of Indian migrants. He also compared the Tamil Nadu migration trend with Kerala migration trend to Gulf countries and the future of international migration from India. Besides, he also discussed the issues of return migration in India and the social cost of migration with the students and faculty who attended the lecture.
Professor Rajan was a visiting faculty at the UGC Centre for the Study of Indian Diaspora, University of Hyderabad.
