Thufail Korankulangara, pursuing PhD in Public Health at the School of Medical Sciences, under the supervision of Dr. Ajitha Katta presented a paper titled “The Relationship between Spiritual Well-being and Health-Related Quality of Life among Cancer Survivors in Home-based Palliative Care” at the 15th Malaysian Hospice Council Congress, held in Sibu, Sarawak in Malaysia from July 25-27, 2024. This research is a part of his ongoing PhD thesis and focuses on exploring the factors that influence the quality of life and spiritual well-being of cancer survivors availing home-based palliative care in Kozhikode district, Kerala, India.
The theme of the conference, “Strengthening Connections and Collaborations in Palliative Care,” provided a valuable platform for interdisciplinary discussions among hospice and palliative care practitioners.
Thufail’s presentation highlighted significant associations between participants’ demographic, socioeconomic, and clinical characteristics with their Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and Spiritual Well-Being (SpWB). The findings underscore the importance of personalized and holistic palliative care interventions.
