For the fourth consecutive year, the recently released Centre for Publications Ethics, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Report “Arts and Humanities Research in India, South Asia and East Asia” shows two University of Hyderabad (UoH) faculty from the Department of English in the top ranks.

Professor Pramod K Nayar              Professor K Narayana Chandran

The Report is based on a scrutiny of articles in journals and book chapters across 7069 publications (India), 8181 (South Asia) and 47918 (South & East Asia) in the fields of literature, history, language, philosophy, etc, indexed in the highly respected Web of Science database for the years 1989-2022.

Professor K Narayana Chandran is ranked 1 in India and South Asia. He is at 6 in South and East Asia (which includes China, Japan and Singapore, ranked by QS among the top research nations in the region). Professor Pramod K Nayar of the same Department is ranked 2 in India and South Asia. He is placed at 9 in South and East Asia.

Prof BJ Rao, Vice Chancellor, expressed his delight at the report and the distinction of the two faculty. What is even more gratifying is that both Prof. K Narayana Chandran and Prof. Pramod K Nayar have improved their overall rankings in South and East Asia from 9 and 18 in 2020 to 6 and 9 respectively. He also added that such reports will enable the university to identify and strengthen its research areas.
