The University of Hyderabad proudly announces that Dr. CHANDAN GHORUI, a Prime Minister’s Research Fellow at the School of Physics University of Hyderabad, has co-founded a startup titled UH Energy Teratech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. at T-HuB, Hyderabad.
The startup aims to develop a terahertz (THz) radiation coupled with AI technique-based sensing technology for testing the freshness of dairy and agro products in India.
Dr. Chandan’s research work was supervised by Sr. Prof. A.K. Chaudhary, who has transitioned into entrepreneurship, motivating his team to innovate and launch startups.
The name of the aforesaid startup was recently showcased at the prestigious PMRF Researchers to Entrepreneurs Conclave, held under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), New Delhi, on July 29–30, 2025. The event brought together India’s top deep-tech innovators under the PMRF scheme to promote research-led entrepreneurship.
UH Energy Teratech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., is a brainchild of Prof. A.K. Chaudhary and co-founded by his group of scholars, including Dr. Ghorui (who is also one of the Directors of this Company). The company is focused on the development of AI/ML-driven THz devices for non-destructive evaluation, of dairy and agricultural products and space-based applications. It also explores THz sensing energy harvesting, combining scientific innovation with practical utility. The innovation program is also supported by T-Hub, Hyderabad.
Dr. Ghorui’s entrepreneurial journey started when his research topic entitled “Nonlinear Crystal Based Efficient Terahertz Generation and Development of Prototype RADAR System for Defense & Food Processing Applications” under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. A.K. Chaudhary, was accepted under the PMRF plan, Govt. of India. He is one of the leading experts and has been working towards the development of indigenous THz science and technology for two decades. The execution of the project proposals on THz based research activities is generously supported by the DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India under ACRHEM Phase-I-III, and further extended under the newly framed Defense Academia Institute -Center of Excellence (DIA CoE), established on the campus of the University of Hyderabad.
Speaking about the achievement, Prof. Chaudhary remarked, “This is a proud moment not just for our research group but for the entire university. Dr. Ghorui’s initiative is a perfect example of how frontier research can translate into national-level technological innovation.”
Dr. Chandan Ghorui expresses his sincere thanks to the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) grant, Govt. of India, for the maintenance fellowship. Dr. Chandan Ghorui expresses his gratitude to our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Vice Chancellor, UoH, National PMRF committee, PMRF coordinator, Director DIA CoE, (ACRHEM), Dean School of Physics, and the University of Hyderabad for supporting their work.
