Dr. M M Pallam Raju, Hon’ble Union Minister for HRD inaugurated the new building of School of Life Sciences on 3 January 2013 at the University. Speaking to a packed audience the Hon’ble Minister said he was pleased to see a state of art building at UoH. He stressed the need to forge alliances with institutions of repute which will help the students and faculty to grow.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy congratulated the Life Sciences faculty and staff and asked the students to make maximum use of the facilities being provided in the new building which will help them in their academics and research.
Prof. M Ramanadham, Dean, School of Life Sciences gave an introduction to the School. The new building has a constructed area of 26300 sq.ft and is built at a cost of Rs: 38 crores and 94 lakhs. The circular building has 157 mts diameter and is a ground plus 2 floor structure with 187 rooms including, laboratories, rooms, office rooms, service rooms, canteen, library etc. It also has two auditoriums with a capacity of 350 and 160 numbers. The building has provisions of washrooms for differently-able persons.
