University of Hyderabad Ethnic Day 2019 was organised by Youth for Inclusive and Sustainable Society (YISS) on 23rd August 2019 in Savitribai Phule Auditorium, University of Hyderabad. The Ethnic 2019 was intended to create awareness on “Say no to drugs”, “Fight depression” and “Promote Handlooms”. 

Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad inaugurated the University Ethnic Day 2019 by Jyotiprajvalana along with Prof. Aruna Bikshu, Head, Department of Dance, Prof. Darla Venkateshwarlu, Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare, Dr. D. Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Chief Warden, and Dr. C. Krishna Reddy, Assistant Professor, School Of Economics along with participants and volunteers. Prof. Appa Rao Podile appriciated the YISS organising committee and emphasized the need for making the campus drug free. He also requested all to promote hand-looms. Vice Chancellor felicitated Dr. Krishna Reddy for taking stringent action on drug usage in hostels and Mr. Anand Naik for saving a life by donating blood in the late hours to a patient suffering from low blood platelets. 

Various dance performances, songs, poetry and ramp walk were performed. The dance performances by the students of Department of Dance and Department of Theater Arts were spectacular. The Ramp Walk show represented rich cultural diversity of students from different states.
