The University of Hyderabad (UoH) (established in 1974) is celebrating its Golden Jubilee, and the School of Management Studies (established in 1999) is celebrating its Silver Jubilee. Commemorating these momentous occasions; the university is organising a series of distinguished lectures. The series theme is: STRONG yet SUSTAINABLE: India’s march to the 3rd largest economy.

Lecture # 3 in the University of Hyderabad Golden Jubilee & SMS Silver Jubilee Distinguished Lecture Series was delivered by Prof Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Campuses on January 9, 2025. He delivered a talk on “Unleashing India’s Scientific Potential: Breaking Barriers and Igniting Innovation” He discussed about the need for increasing our spending in Research and Development, which is currently at around 0.68 percent of our GDP. He stressed on the need for more Industry academia dialogue and a role for the government and its agencies doing this linkage more actively. He concluded by saying that India has a lot of opportunities to explore and be more innovative.

Prof BJ Rao, Vice Chancellor presided over the lecture which was attended by students, faculty and officials from across the university campus.
