Dr. Shiva Ram Male, PhD in Health Sciences – Optometry and Visual Science of the School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been invited to attend the International Colour Vision Society (ICVS) Summer School – 2023, organized by the International Colour Vision Society at Pembroke College, Oxford University, UK by Department of Experimental Psychology from 31st July to 4th August 2023. He received a prestigious scholarship from the ICVS society to attend this summer school.
The International Colour Vision Society (ICVS) is an international group of physiologists, psychologists, physicists, geneticists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, and visual scientists who have a research interest in the many aspects of colour vision and colour vision deficiencies.
Dr. Shiva is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Before joining Harvard, Shiva ram completed his PhD- Health Sciences (Optometry and Vision Sciences) in March 2023 on a thesis entitled “Profiling the problem of colour vision deficiency and its association with colour, culture and cognition – An Indian perspective”, under the Research Supervision of Prof. B R Shamanna, Professor, late. Dr. Rishi Bhardwaj, School of Medical Sciences and Co-Research supervisors Prof. Chakravarthy Bhagvati – SCIS and his doctoral committee members Dr Rashmin Gandhi, Centre for Sight Hospitals, Hyderabad and Dr Baskar Theagarayan, University of Huddersfield, UK.
In this ICVS society meeting -2023, Dr Shiva will be presenting an overview of His PhD work and how it can provide an avenue to benefit the colour vision deficiency patients universally.
The whole research supervision team of Dr Shiva Ram and Prof. Geeta. K Vemuganti, Dean School of Medical Sciences, and other School faculty members were profuse in their appreciation of Dr. Shiva Ram for this achievement.
