A lecture on career guidance and counselling was organised by the office of the Dean, Students’ welfare and the Students’ Union on 13 February. This was part of a series of lectures being organised jointly by the administration and the students’ representatives.

Prof.R.P.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, attended the function and talked about the importance of career guidance. Sri.Umapathy Sattaru, Retired IPS officer and acclaimed career counsellor, gave the key note address. Instead of delivering a long speech he preferred to interact with students individually, asking each student his/her career ambitions. He gave career specific guidance to each aspirant and advised them to be focussed and hard working. A good percentage of the participants expressed their interest in joining the civil services and received guidance from Sri.Umapathy.

Mr.Dong Yeop Kim, regional director of IYF, attended the function and shared his thoughts about career and opportunities. Prof.P.Prakash Babu, Dean, Students’ welfare and the office bearers of the Students’ Union were also present at the function.

Students who participated in various events held at the university received their prizes during the event. The official poster of the film festival ‘Heteroglossia’ organised by the Students’ Union was also released at the event.
