Rattan Lal Hangloo, a senior faculty of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and presently the Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University, West Bengal, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University, one of the oldest university in the country established in the year 1887.

Prof. Hangloo has been serving as Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University since 2013. He is an eminent historian & specialist on Indian and Central Asia History, politics and Culture, Kashmir Affairs and hails from village Hanglalgund, District Anantnag of Southern Kashmir Province of India.

He was recently awarded the Dewang Mehta Business School Award in recognition of his leadership, innovation and industry interface, among others. He is also a member of the election analysis team of Harvard University.

Prof. Hangloo (M.A., M.Phil., PhD-JNU) has already served as the Chair of Indian Studies at University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago, and has been awarded several prestigious fellowships, which include: a Fulbright Fellowship by USA, DAAD, Fellowship by Germany and Maison des Sciences visiting fellowship by France. He was recently invited by Maison des Sciences del homme of Paris (FMHS) France as Visiting Professor. He was also visiting professor at University of Delaware (USA), University of Michigan (USA), Heidelberg University Germany, Bamberg University Germany, Ashkabad University, Turkmenistan. He was also the Chancellor’s nominee at Kashmir University.
