Dr. V.J. Varghese, Assistant Professor in the Department of History, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has recently concluded his visit to the Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow. The three month visiting tenure with an affiliation to the Asian Migration Cluster of the ARI, in recognition to his works in migration studies, has enabled intense academic networking and sharing of knowledge in the field. As a leading university in the world with stimulating environment, the visit to NUS,has enhanced professional development and facilitated valuable academic contribution. While at ARI, Dr. Varghese worked on a publication out of his ongoing work on agrarian migration in South India, apart from being part of the regular academic life of the ARI.

Dr. Varghese, who has done his Doctoral Research from UoH has recently joined the Department of History. He was Assistant Professor at the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram and the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, prior to this. His areas of interest include modern South Asian history, with special reference to the economic and environmental histories of India, transnational migrations from South Asia and making of regional modernities in South Asia.
