The Horticulture Department at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has recently started the Vanmahotsav plantation programme in the campus by planting different types of the fruit bearing saplings like; Mango Varieties (Alfanso, Benesan,Chinnarasalu and Mulgoa) and Guava varieties (Alahabadi, Safeda, Lucknow-49, Lalit and Red Guava)and Grafted Amla.
The process of propagation of different types of the fruit bearings species was also started in the department nursery. The Plantation programme was inaugurated by Professor E. Haribabu Pro Vice-Chancellor, UoH. This program is planned to cover the entire campus by planting the fruit variety saplings, said Professor Haribabu.
Professor A.R. Reddy (Prof Incharge, Horticulture Dept.); Sri V. Prassana Kumar (Deputy Registrar-Horticulture Dept), Mr. C.P. Sharma (Asst Horticulturist), Mr. V.V.Subbarao (Jr Horticulturist) and the Horticulture staff participated in this plantation drive.
