The Junior Science Club affiliated with the Center for Integrated Studies (CIS) organised its annual science fest—Vigyanotsav on the 2nd and 9th of September 2023. The event was funded by the Institution Of Eminence grant and the International Year of Millets and was held in the School Of Life Sciences and the Center for Integrated Studies.

On the first day, the event was inaugurated by the Director of CIS, Dr. Sanjay Subodh and JSC faculty coordinator Prof. K. Muralidharan. Students from grades 9th and 10th of different schools were invited to take part in various interschool competitions like quiz, elocution, and debate. University students made several demonstrations for scientific experiments and the students were escorted to various labs in the CIS.

Vigyanotsav was inaugurated by our Vice Chancellor Prof. B. J. Rao, the Director of CIS Dr Sanjay Subodh, and the Director of IoE Prof M. Ghanashyam Krishna on the 9th of September. On this day, students of grades 11th and 12th from various schools were invited to participate in various interschool competitions and take part in interactive science demonstrations prepared by the university students. The elocution and debate competitions on both days centered on the topic of Sustainable Development and Environmental protection. Few events like Calculus Bee and Coding Bee in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science were organised for the participation of the campus community. Dr Archana S. Morye, a faculty coordinator of JSC put up an origami corner to demonstrate the mathematics behind the craft of paper folding in the morning and in the afternoon, the Gene Health Connect mobile exhibition by the CSIR-CCMB (Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad) and VITM (Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum) was housed in front of CIS for the school students and the campus community.

Both the days of the science fest was a bustle with a range of activities that kept the city schools and the campus community on their toes and allowed school students to get a taste of our university.
