V Srinivasa Rao

Dr. V. Srinivasa Rao, Associate Professor in Centre for Regional Studies, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, has edited the volume entitled – Adivasi Rights and Exclusion in India – and got published by #Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group). This volume is an outcome of the National Seminar organized by him on the volume theme in February 2012 with the financial support from the Centre for Human Rights when Prof. G. Sudarshanam was its Coordinator.

This volume examines the processes and impacts of exclusion on the Adivasis (tribal or indigenous people) in India and what repercussions these have for their constitutional rights. The chapters explore a wide range of issues connected to the idea of exclusion — land and forest resources, habitats and livelihoods, health and disease management, gender relations, language and schooling, water resources, poverty, governance, markets and technology, and development challenges — through case studies from different parts of the country.

Eminent scholars like Virginius Xaxa, Felix Padel, Pradip Prabhu, Ilina Sen, G. Haragopal, Amaresh Dubey, Sajal Nag, Yatindra Singh Sisodia, Malli Gandhi, S. N. Chaudhary and six others contributed their research findings to this volume in the form of Chapters. Prof. Shantha Sinha has written the Foreword to this volume. Dev Nathan and Ghanshyam Shah have contributed blurb on the book.

The global edition of this book has been published in September 2018 by the Routledge, London, and uploaded in their website. The details of the global edition may be accessed in the following link:
