Anjana M. Nair, a Doctoral Candidate under the supervision of Prof. Suchandra Ghosh at the Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) presented a paper in the 36th Comité International d’Histoire de l’Art (CIHA) World Congress 2024 organised by the Comité Français d’Histoire de l’Art (CFHA), l’Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA) and the Laboratoire de Recherche Historique Rhône-Alpes (LARHRA) from June 23rd to 28th, 2024 in Lyon (France).
Her paper titled “Transcultural Encounters and Material Metamorphosis: Unravelling the Social Lives of Indian Religious Objects in Transit” was presented in the panel “Matter in Motion: Transcultural Material and Symbolic Transformations” of the conference, which is being turned into a book-project. She also received the GETTY Foundation Grant for attending the 36th International Congress of Art History. The conference aimed to highlight issues of spectatorship, materiality and disseminate research by bringing together communities of art history and heritage around a unifying theme through its scientific and cultural programmes.
