Mr. Abhishek Malhotra, a second-year Ph.D. Scholar from School of Economics has been selected to attend the ASEAN-India Youth Summit, organised by India Foundation in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India (MEA). The theme of the summit is ‘Connectivity: Pathway to Shared Prosperity’.
India and ASEAN have emerged as rising Asian powers in the new millennium of fast-growing economies. The summit will take place from 3-7 February 2019 in Guwahati, Assam. The Summit will be chaired by the Chief Minister of the State, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and co-chaired by the chief ministers of other northeast Indian states like Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
This confluence of youth leaders from India and ten ASEAN countries- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will lead to a shared understanding of the challenges we face and the actions that we need to take to restore and nourish connectivity in all dimensions within the region.
Abhishek is the only student from the University of Hyderabad who will be participating in the Summit and is one of the very few youth leaders selected from all over India.
