In a transformative initiative at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern tools, the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), has embarked on a pioneering project titled “Computational Tools for Teaching & Learning Sanskrit” for Ayurvedic Medical Practitioners. This visionary program is set to revolutionize the way Ayurvedic practitioners engage with Sanskrit, the foundational language of Ayurveda, leveraging computational tools to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Aligned with the ethos of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the integration of traditional Indian knowledge systems into mainstream education, this initiative seeks to empower Ayurvedic practitioners with the linguistic proficiency essential for a deeper understanding of classical Ayurvedic texts. By bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary pedagogical methods, the program embodies the spirit of revitalizing Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in the educational landscape.

Facilitated by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCISM and MMTTC, this collaborative endeavor underscores the commitment of both institutions to synergize resources and expertise towards advancing the cause of Ayurvedic education. The training program, designed to accommodate 500 Ayurvedic medical practitioners, is structured into ten batches of 50 participants each. Notably, six batches have already completed their training journey, marking significant progress towards the program’s overarching goals. The recent inauguration of the seventh batch took place at the Seminar Hall of MMTTC, with esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Raghurama Bhatta U, President, Medical Assessment & Rating Board, Indian System of Medicine, Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Director of MMTTC, and Prof. Amba Kulkarni, the course coordinator, presiding over the event. Their presence underscored the importance and high aspirations of this initiative.
