Mr. Prasanta Das Ph. D. Research Scholar in the Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) received a Short Term Research Grant from the prestigious Charles Wallace India Trust in order to acquire materials concerning his doctoral work from the British Library, London. He has also received financial assistance from the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi in order to meet the travel expenses.

Mr. Das is working under the supervision of Dr. Rashmi, Assistant Professor, Department of History. His doctoral committee, apart from his supervisor, includes Prof. Sanjay Subodh, Department of History and Dr. Amit Kumar Mishra the Centre for the Study of Indian Diaspora.

Mr. Prasanta is working on the intra-Asian networks of capital flows of diasporic Nattukottai Chettiars situating them within the larger global circulation and capital, commodities and cultures and offer some fresh insights into this debate from the vantage point of intra-Asian networks. He will be visiting the Indian Office collections at the British Library, London in the mid of June 2017 and devote ample amount of time in the repositories.

Mr. Prasanta Das completed his schooling up to Class X from Govt. Secondary School, Manmao, Arunachal Pradesh and +2 from Bajali Academy of Excellence, Pathsala, Assam. He completed his graduation from Cotton College, Gauhati University, Assam with honors in History and his post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with specialization in Medieval Indian History in 2011. He completed his Master of Philosophy in History under the supervision of Dr. Rashmi, Assistant Professor, Department of History, University of Hyderabad. Presently, he is working under Dr. Rashmi for his doctoral degree. In future, he would like to pursue a career in academics and contribute to the existing scholarly body of knowledge.
