On April 7, 2018 University of Hyderabad (UoH) hosted an alumni reunion. A reunion of this scale was hosted first in April 2015. Many past students came for this meet which witnessed some nostalgic moments. Alumni from the various programmes of the UoH participated in the day-long event.
Some of the alumni visited their respective Schools/Departments and interacted with their former teachers and associates recollecting their glorious days on the campus.
The alumni were welcomed back to the campus by the Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. P Prakash Babu, together with faculty members from different departments. In his address, he emphasized the need for alumni to participate in developmental and social welfare activities of the University.
Several alumni participating in the meet also shared their feelings – “It is great to come back to our campus and meet some of my old friends and teachers. It’s also a special feeling to meet some of the non-teaching staff who were so helpful to us when we were students here”, said many of them.
Another highlight of the Meet was the presence of Kim Reddy, the first student of UoH, from the 1976 batch of MA-English. Everyone was proud to have him who holds the roll number one, among them.
Later the Meet saw the alumni retracing their memory lines by taking a stroll around the campus and remembering the good old days which they used to have with their old friends. They also went around the stalls erected as part of the Students annual festival Sukoon 2018.
The University of Hyderabad Alumni Association (UOHAA) Executive Committee meeting was also held on 7th April 2018 on the occasion of Sukoon 2018. General Secretary of UOHAA, Professor Prakash Babu welcomed all the executive members of the association. The Vice Chancellor Professor Appa Rao Podile also attended as a special invitee for the meeting. Mrs. G Janaki Sharmila , Vice President, Dr .B Nageswara Rao, Treasurer, Mr T.Damodara Rao, Joint Secretary, Professor Debasish Acharya , Ex -Officio member, (Dean, Students Welfare) and Professor Darla Venkateswara Rao Executive Member, Coordinator of the UOHAA (Dy. Dean, Students Welfare) and Dr. Arulmoi also attended the meeting. The general secretary presented a brief report about working progress of the association, including registration of the aluminium Association with the Government of Telangana, providing space for the office, opening a bank account for University of Hyderabad alumni Association with HDFC Bank and other related activities.
Professor Appa Rao Podile, suggested that noted Alumni can be felicitated every year on the occasion of convocation celebrations on behalf of the University. He also gave few suggestions to promote the University of Hyderabad Alumni Association.
