In an initiative to sensitize working journalists to issues and challenges related to climate change, the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with the British Deputy High Commission, conducted a 2-day workshop on “Covering Climate Change” on December 18 and 19, 2013.
The workshop was attended by journalists from several local newspapers as well as journalism students. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr Andrew MacAllister, the British Deputy High Commissioner, while the keynote was delivered by Ms Keya Acharya, President, Indian Federation of Environmental Journalists.
A team from BBC Media Action facilitated activities and discussions to help journalists localise stories related to climate change. Sessions by Ernst & Young provided updated information on the science and politics of climate change.
