The School of Medical Sciences of University of Hyderabad celebrated its 10th year anniversary celebrations along with its first Alumni meet of the School academic programs on 8th August 2019 at the Zakir Hussain Lecture Hall Complex premises.

Prof. Prakash Babu P, Dean In-charge, School of Medical Sciences welcomed the gathering and talked about the need to have a strong alumni network not only at the university level but also at unit school and centre levels.

Prof. E. Haribabu, Former Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and recollected the process of setting up the school and its activities as he was privy and participated in many of the initial discussions while establishing the school. He also impressed upon the alumni to be in constant contact with the school and also promote the school and its initiatives at available forum.

Prof. Geeta Vemuganti, Professor and former-Dean of the school shared the chronology of the schools activities both academic and research and conveyed how it was a roller coaster and an immensely satisfying experience at the same breadth.

142 alumni including past students, current scholars and students of the various school programs had an opportunity to hear and share their experience from peers, seniors and faculty across disciplines and programs. There was a lot of emphasis on how learning should be both invigorating through academics and co-curricular activities and how the university provided the ideal setting for such immersion.

The occasion was also used to provide an induction to the new students who joined in mid July 2019.

Dr. Yellapragada Subbarow memorial lecture followed the alumni meet.
