Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 126th birth anniversary at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 14th April 2017. Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, Shri Devesh Nigam, Registrar I/c, Prof. Prakash Babu, Dean, Students Welfare, Shri Varatharajan, Librarian, IGM Library, faculty members, officers, staff and students paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution at the administration building.
Prof. Appa Rao said that the contributions made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar are in the hearts of and minds of Indians. His life is characterized by unmatched determination and a firm commitment towards social justice. He was a successful lawyer, Visionary, scholar, writer and intellectual who served the nation and the people selflessly. Let us pledge to dedicate ourselves to creating the India that Dr. Ambedkar dreamt of, an India that will make him proud, said Prof. Appa Rao.
A great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life for the uplifting of the deprived sections of society. As a member of the Constitution-drafting committee, Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens. This included the right to freedom of religion, the abolition of untouchability and the outlawing of all forms of discrimination.
