Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 131st birth anniversary at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 14th April 2022. Prof. B J Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R.S. Sarraju, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, Prof. G Nagaraju, Dean-Students’ Welfare, faculty members, officers, staff and students paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution at the administration building.
Prof. B J Rao, in his address, recalled the contributions made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar stating, “His life and achievements are an example for each one of us to follow. We all know that his determination and firm commitment towards social justice is appreciated worldwide even today. His doctrines should be followed and implemented by all of us in our daily life and work at the University. Dr. Ambedkar was a successful scholar, visionary and Intellectual who served our country and the people selflessly”, he added.
A great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar, was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the deprived sections of society. As the Chairman & Member of the Constitution-drafting committee, Dr. Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens. This included right to freedom of religion, abolition of untouchability and outlawing of all forms of discrimination.
