Dr. Ramakrishna Bhargav, Ph.D. Communication, Department of Communication, S N School of Arts & Communication, University of Hyderabad has been appointed as Assistant Professor at the Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal. He started his teaching responsibilities from August 1, 2022.

Bhargav worked under the supervision of Prof. Vinod Pavarala for his doctoral thesis on “On the Margins of the Journalistic Field: An Ethnographic Study of Stringers in Indian-Language Newspapers.” His book, Stringers and the Journalistic Field: Marginalities and Precarious News Labour in Small-Town India is forthcoming from the prestigious international publisher, Routledge. He also completed his M.A. in Communication from University of Hyderabad in 2005 and M.Phil. from the Centre for Regional Studies in 2007. He also has about four years of professional experience as a journalist in various newspapers.
For the past over a year, Bhargav has been working with Prof. Pavarala and Prof. John Downey (Loughborough) as a research associate in an international collaborative project involving University of Hyderabad and Loughborough University, UK on “Framing the Nation: Citizenship, Conflict, and the Media in Contemporary India.” A book manuscript based on his doctoral work has been accepted for publication by Routledge.
