National Book Trust (NBT), India released the book titled “Holistic Healthcare in New India: Recent Key Policy Initiatives” contributed by the team of Faculty under the guidance of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), Vice Chancellor Prof BJ Rao in “The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2024” on 11.02.2024. The policy document was produced under the aegis of ‘Creating Intellectual Heritage Project’ which involved University of Hyderabad and published by NBT. In addition to the Vice Chancellor Prof B.J. Rao, the team of faculty contributors included Prof G. Padmaja (Centre for Health Psychology), Dr Ranjith Kumar Dehury, (School of Management Studies), Dr Punam Singh (School of Management Studies) and C. Vanlalhruaii (Centre for Health Psychology).
“Holistic healthcare in New India: Recent Key Policy Initiatives” emphasizes an integrated and holistic approach to health and wellness, considering the physical, psychological, and social well-being. The book offers a comprehensive analysis of India’s healthcare evolution through the lens of the six core pillars of Swasth Bharat: Medical Infrastructure (MI), Affordable Medicines (AM), Vaccination, Medical Education, Ayush & Yoga and Clean Environment. The book also recommends an integrated model for holistic healthcare in New India for further strengthening the government initiatives through the Sampoorna Arogyata Model (SAM). The book appeals to a diverse audience, including policy makers, academics, researchers, practitioners, consultants, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations with interest in health policy and implementation.
