International Mother tongue day was celebrated on 20 February, 2020 at the School of Humanities auditorium, University of Hyderabad jointly organized by the School of Humanities and Dean, Students welfare, University of Hyderabad. Prof. S. Saratjyothsna Rani participated in this program as Chief guest.

Prof. Darla Venkateswara Rao, Deputy Dean, Students welfare, University of Hyderabad explained the back ground of the International Mother tongue day. The importance of the International Mother tongue day is first identified by Buddha for the propagation of his philosophy says Prof. Gajendra Pathak, Head, Department of Hindi, University of Hyderabad. Prof. Fazulullakhan, Head, Department of Urdu says the person who loves his mother tongue only loves his country and his mother. The Telugu Department Prof. Tummala Ramakrishna says powerful expression is possible only through mother tongue. Prof. Y. Sudhakar explained the sweetness of Urdu language by singing gazals and shayari. Telugu Department professors Prof. D. Vijayalakshmi, Banala Bhujanga Reddy and Urdu Department Professors Rafia Begum, Abdur Rab Manzar, Mohammed Kashif and research scholars Prasad, Bhavana and Atilulla also spoke on this occasion. Large number students of different departments participated in this program.
