The inaugural session of the two-day National Workshop on ‘Blind with Camera’ organized by the Empowered Committee for Differently Abled Persons (ECDAP) in collaboration with Universities with Potential for Excellence (UPE) Phase-II was held on November 5, 2016 at College for Integrated Studies, University of Hyderabad (UoH).

Mr. Partho Bhowmick, the author of popular titles: SEE AS NO OTHER and IN TOUCH, the resource person for the inaugural program. Mr. Bhowmick, having the reputation for popularizing innovative techniques of shooting with camera using non-visual sensory perceptions, is actively involved in organizing several workshops with visually-impaired persons across the country offering them hands-on-training in this rare art.

Mr. Bhowmick said that it gives immense pleasure to be part of this program and being at UoH. He said that we need to translate mental images into reality while taking the photograph. We need to use others senses like voice, sound and temperature to recognize individual or images. One of his students who is completely visually challenged has shoot for 8 hours per day and was paid as per the current rates for the photographer, he added. Mr. Bhowmick said that to the students to explore this workshop to gain/exchange ideas.

Dr. S. Rajagopal, Chairman ECDAP, congratulated Dr. Annavam and Dr. Arvind Susarla for their contribution to organize this program. Dr. Rajagopal said that under UPE Phase-II they will be getting 20 computers with centralized AC for the use of students at University.
