The book on “Octavio Paz and India: Enduring Resonances- Selected Essays” was launched on November 19th, 2018 at Main Art Gallery, Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre, New Delhi in a program hosted by the Embassy of Mexico in India. . In the book launch program, HE Melba Pria, Ambassador of Mexico in India, along with many other diplomats and academicians were present.

Mr. Alberto Ruy Sánchez, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Mexico in India, gave a brief introduction of the book. During the launch of the book, Prof. J Prabhakar Rao, Head, CSFL and one of the editors of the book spoke about the growing Indo-LAC relations and the role of academic collaborations in the field of higher education between these two regions. Mr. Ranjeeva Ranjan who teaches Spanish at University of Hyderabad gave a brief presentation about the book in Spanish. Prof. M.S. Hayat, Retired Professor, BRAOU, Hyderabad who provided financial assistance for the publication of the book was also present at the function.

The papers presented in the National Seminar on Octavio Paz in 2014 at University of Hyderabad along with some invited ones were compiled in a book form titled “Octavio Paz and India: Enduring Resonances- Selected Essays” which got published this year. The book consists of 11 scholarly papers on different themes of the Paz’s writings. The theme of the papers varies from Paz’s artistic identity, vision, his political philosophy and world view to India in the ‘Paz’ Imaginary. The book would undoubtedly contribute to an in-depth understanding of Paz and his thoughts on India which in turn will help in recognizing the universality of this great Poet.
