Prof Ramesh Kumar Mishra, Head at the Centre for Neural and Cognitive Sciences, School of Medical Sciences was invited to deliver a lecture at the Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes, Aix-Marseille Université, Marseille, France, on June 30th, 2023. Discussions over his recent book, Cognitive Science: New Developments and Future Directions (Routledge, 2023) culminated in a new framework for the study of cognition.
In his talk titled, ‘Proposal for Unified Diversity-oriented View of Cognition,’ he spoke about cognitive adaptability, affective modulation and individual difference, pertaining to culture and social demands. He made empirical predictions about different people and their cognition, highlighting key cultural variables.
As Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cultural Cognitive Science, Springer Nature, Prof. Mishra takes a keen interest in the matters of the mind, brain, and culture and encourages researchers to take up new domains of enquiry. Driss Boussaoud, Senior Researcher at CNRS, was the host for this visit and Co-Director of Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes. Prof. Mishra visited Prof. Boris Gutkin’s lab at Ecole Normale Superior, Paris as a part of the iBrain:Integrated Track in Brain and Cognition, Erasmus+ grant where he also delivered an invited lecture on ‘Language and Attention’.
