Prof V Bharathi Harishankar appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam University for Women

Prof V Bharathi Harishankar FRSA, alumna of the Department of English, University of Hyderabad, and presently a member of the School Board of Humanities, has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Avinashalingam University for Women, Coimbatore.

Prof Harishankar was a Ph.D. scholar at the Department of English, UoH, from 1989 to 1993. She was previously the Head of Women’s Studies, the Director of IQAC and Director HRDC at the University of Madras. A recognized postcolonial studies scholar, she was also instrumental in setting up the Gender Lab at the University of Madras.

Prof Harishankar was nominated to the Royal Society for the Arts in 2021.
