Prof. Vinod Pavarala, faculty in the Department of Communication, S N School of Arts & Communication and UNESCO Chair on Community Media, University of Hyderabad will be delivering the keynote address at the opening of The Radio Conference: A Transnational Forum to be held at University of Bedfordshire, UK from July 9-12, 2013.

A biannual event, the prestigious conference was previously held in New Zealand and Canada, and attracts scholars, practitioners and activists engaged with radio broadcasting from around the world.

Prof. Pavarala, who has been intimately connected with the community radio movement in India for more than a decade, will be sharing insights from the research and advocacy work he and his team at University of Hyderabad have been doing as part of the UNESCO Chair, the first of its kind anywhere in the world.

The four-day programme of the conference offers a platform for exploration of radio broadcasting from cultural, political, and social perspectives.
