Rajendhar Junjuri, research scholar, working under the guidance of Dr. G. Manoj Kumar at ACRHEM (Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials), School of Physics, University of Hyderabad received a travel grant from DST-SERB and ACRHEM to attend the symposium and presented a paper entitled “Rapid identification of the plastics using LIBS” at the 10th Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (EMSLIBS) during 8 – 13th September, 2019 in Brno, Czech Republic.
The organizers of EMSLIBS conducted a LIBS data analysis competition globally in which Rajendhar secured the 4th position. The aim of this competition was to find a robust classification algorithm capable of dealing with challenging vast amount datasets (from LIBS spectroscopy) and to correctly classify materials with the highest possible accuracy. The data analysis results will be published in a special issue in Elsevier journal “Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy”.
