On 12th April 2022 the Junior Science Club (JSC) Foundation Day was observed. The event aimed at commemorating the memory of the late Prof. KPN Murthy, former Director of Centre for Integrated Studies (CIS), who was instrumental in launching JSC and giving all the science undergraduates in CIS an opportunity to participate in events like Vigyanotsav and Coherence, and listen to talks by eminent Professors and Scholars on various scientific topics. Prof. B J Rao, Vice Chancellor of UoH presided over the event.

Prof Sastry V S S S (from the Centre of Modelling, Simulation and Design, UoH) gave a talk on ‘Measurement Processes in Physics and Evolution of Concepts’ on this occasion.

         

Later a hands-on-activity for all the attendees on Origami by Dr. Archana Morye (from the School of Mathematics and Statistics) was also organized. The concept of the origami activity being used by researchers worldwide currently to study dark matter in physics! was explained.

               

The family members of Prof Murthy, Mrs Indira and Saket (son) graced the event. Some of the IMSc students from earlier batches also attended the meet and shared their fond memories of Prof Murthy.
