Sreelakshmy M

The paper explores how the disabled bodies of Octavia E. Butler’s protagonists contribute to a reformulation of their identities. It studies Edana Franklin in Kindred and Shori Mathews in Fledgling as they negotiate with strangers in a bid to live, and how the idea of living/life is redefined, leading to new forms of belonging.

Sreelakshmy is currently getting ready to submit her PhD dissertation on the speculative fiction writer Octavia E. Butler’s fiction. She works under the supervision of Professor Pramod K. Nayar and Professor Anna Kurian.
