Prof. Subhasish Dutta Gupta, a senior faculty in the School of Physics at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been invited to be an Adjunct Professor at the prestigious Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
Prof. Dutta Gupta has been given this honour by TIFR which will help in continued academic interaction and collaboration between the two institutions. As part of this invitation, for the next three years, he will be entitled to visit some of the well-known institutions like the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) & the Centre for Applicable Mathematics (CAM) in Bengaluru, the TIFR Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences (TCIS) in Hyderabad, the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) in Pune, the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) and the TIFR main campus in Mumbai and share his academic knowledge, areas of research with the faculty and students there.
Prof. Dutta Gupta is with the UoH from 1984 and is currently a Professor in the School of Physics. He has a Ph D from Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow and his research is in the field of Nonlinear and Quantum Optics. He was a Visiting Scientist/Professor at the Imperial College, London; Institute of Optics, University of Rochester; University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo and Oklahoma state University, Stillwater, USA. Prof. Dutta Gupta is Member, Editorial Board, European Physical Journal: Applied Physics (EPJAP); Member, Editorial Board, Pramana: Journal of Physics. He also served as a Member, Programme Advisory Committee, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Prof. Dutta Gupta has been awarded the US patent for Omnidirectional Antireflection Coating along with Dr. Girish Agarwal of Okhlahoma State University. The US patent (US7894137B2) filed in the year 2007 was assigned in 2011 to the University of Hyderabad and the Board of Regents of the Okhlahoma State University, USA.
