The 3rd activity of the Virasat 2017 started with an impressive Carnatic vocal concert by Smt. Sumitra Vasudev. Endowed with pleasant and flexible voice and a good grip over the Carnatic classical idioms, she gave a sterling Lec-Dem at the DST auditorium on February 23, 2017.

The highlight or the strength of her program was her ability to communicate the complex nuances and technicalities of Carnatic music to the students of UoH. There was clarity in her explanation however complex the concepts were.

Smt. Sumitra Vasudev started the program with a Varnam in Savari ragam. It was an energetic and vibrant presentation.

The central piece of the concert was the Ragam Tanam Pallavi (RTP). She choose Keervani ragam for this. She was quite imaginative in elaborating the raga and also in the improvisations. Her grasp of the grammar is commendable.

Saraswati Namostuthe in Sarawati Ragam and the Ragamalika Virutam were rendered beautifully. Smt Sumitra Vasudev concluded with a Tillana in Vasantha.

The UoH community availed this huge opportunity to experience the wonderful exposition of the Carnatic music.
